Hey everyone! My sister and I had a fun night to celebrate her award she got at school... highest GPA in her class!! We went to go get Mexican food at one of our favorite restaurants and it was beyond good!! We probably eat there way too often haha. We came home and made ice cream sundaes instead of getting churros there... we didn't want to wait. She had that amazing cupcake that I took a picture of from a cupcake shop called Smallcakes. We had a memorial day cookout with friends and they brought those over and we had some left. They looked so amazing! I opted for my favorite ice cream ever... mint chocolate chip! I remember when I was little my mom and I would always eat mint chocolate chip ice cream (my mom and I still do now!), so I think it somehow reminds me of my childhood, you know? And of course we had to add magic shell... what is ice cream without magic shell??
We ran to target today to get Addie a game for doing so well this year, and she chose Pie Face (oh, joy) and Monopoly: Here & Now. We played Monopoly and it was so fun! I must say, I love this version of Monopoly so much more! It is one of my favorite board games! The thing is with Monopoly, it takes so dang long to finish a game and by the time you are at the end you aren't even having fun anymore. This one is set up differently and we finished the game in 30 minutes. You fill up a passport tray with coins from each property you buy, and whoever fills theirs up first, wins. I would say it's a must-buy for younger kids because there aren't as many rules and they can understand it more. When we play normal monopoly, she never really knows what is going on but she likes to be the banker haha. But it's kind of difficult for a 7 year old to really get into it and think about how to spend her money, even if it is fake.
I also had 2 exams today that weren't that fun, but I did do well on them so that is good! We have to stay in the classroom for 1 hour and 15 minutes no matter what, but i finished one exam in 10 minutes because it was pretty much straight memorization so I could just fire off all the answers super quickly. For the 100-question exam, everyone finished in under 30 minutes.
I also went out for about 2 hours to practice, just to get some fresh air and work on some drills which was super fun. I think I probably putted and made 100 3-footers today, but repetition is key. So excited for summer so I can golf more, blog more, and relax more!! One more day!!
Hi everyone! Today I (yet again) changed the template of the blog, and I must say that I like this one so much more! It has such clean lines and just looks so polished in my opinion :)

I have asked my dermatologist before what the difference was between really expensive skincare items and affordable ones, she said they are the same thing. Is it just me, or are skincare products getting smaller and more expensive? Anyways, I watched a CNN special about it last night and I thought it was really interesting and I wanted to share it with you guys, because the skincare companies have definitely tricked me! They interviewed a few dermatologists and the main thing they said was that a $10 moisturizer and a $200 moisturizer are the same thing... deja vu back to what my dermatologist said months before! I have been using Clinique Moisture Surge Gel thinking I was doing such great things to my skin. Turns out, I was wrong. In the study they did, they compared La Mer face cream (which is a whopping $310!!!!) to drugstore lotion. They did the same thing, temporarily moisturize your face. Another really interesting thing I found was that there is no such thing as a wrinke-rewinder, and there are only two anti-aging product on the market. That is what really got me! They said that when wrinkles are there, they do not magically go away. They can seem like they do, but you cannot reverse the crevices in your skin. Also, the most powerful anti-aging serum you could ever buy is... SUNSCREEN! Sun is one of the leading causes of wrinkles, so wear your sunscreen to prevent wrinkles, sunburns, and skin cancer! You can also use Retinol to help. It basically peels off a thin layer of your skin so wrinkles cannot become very deep, deep skin cancer cannot form, and it also helps with blackheads and whiteheads. I hope this helps you guys, I know it helped me!

Hey guys! Happy Memorial day (and the somewhat cheesy picture of an american flag, I didn't get any pictures from today)! Today I played 18 with my dad and two of his friends in the morning then we had a cookout at the house with some friends and it was so fun :). I also made oreo brownies that were to die for! They are pretty easy- just make a double batch of brownies, half the batter on the bottom, cover in oreos, then pour the rest of the brownie batter on top! I think I am still in a sugar coma haha. As you could probably tell, I am trying out a new template for my site, let me know if you like it! I can't really decide if I like it or not, I think the header is a little small and it makes the pictures kind of weird but I'll just feel it out. Please give me any suggestions, I am still new at this! This is exam week and I am not super happy about it :(. I have one exam tomorrow, one on Wednesday, and one on Thursday so I suppose it could be worse. And it only counts as 20% of my yearly grade so that takes so much pressure off of me! After exams, I have to start studying for the ACT that I am taking in June. But after that I am good to go! I was supposed to play in a tournament this weekend and missed so much exam review on Friday to go down and play a practice round and I wake up on Saturday morning (the first day of the tournament) with food poisoning so I obviously could not play golf or study. It was absolutely horrible.
Hi guys! In honor of me being so sore today that I could barely walk up stairs, I thought I would share my workout routine. I worked out yesterday and I took about 1.5 weeks off because I was sick and my cough lingered for quite a while, so I did get a little more sore than usual. Okay, a lot more sore than usual. So, I am going to share my routine as well as what you can do to prevent from getting sore (that I obviously failed to do yesterday...).

Core
In a 1-hour workout, I will spend about 15 minutes or so on corework, depending on if I have access free weights to do my lifting. If I don't, I will spend more time here. I normally go on and off each exercise 30 seconds on 7 seconds on with no breaks inbetween sets and I choose from these exercises:
traditional plank
side plank
stir-the-pot (do a plank with your forearms on a yoga ball and spin arms in a circle)
side plank arm raises (side plank raising your arm, then tucking it under your armpit)
russian twists (use a medicine ball and sit in a V shape, twisting your body to touch the ball to the ground on each side of your hips)
leg lifts
butterfly kicks
6 inches (lift legs 6 inches of the ground and hold them there without letting them drop)

Cardio
Next, I will work on cardio or speed drills. I am not much of a 'cardio bunny' as I do not run long, slow distances. I typically do HIIT because it's proven to be better for you and it also benefits the fast-twitch muscles you need in golf. If I am doing speed, I will do box jumps, hurdles, or sprints.

Lifting
This is definitely where the majority of my time goes... weight training. **DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT A TRAINER IF YOU ARE INEXPERIENCED** I typically do 5x2 of hang cleans or hang snatches, then 5x4 of front squats, back squats, or deadlifts. My personal favorites are cleans and deadlifts. I feel like you are either a squat person or a deadlift person and there is no inbetween haha... I am definitely not a squat person because I hate the bar on my collarbone or back.

Upper body
For upper body I typically will start off with dumbell presses, dumbell rows, or rows with the bar. Once I finish up with that, I like to challenge myslef a few times a week to see how many pushups I can bust out (my current record is 26.. it can't seem to budge!!!). I will either do pushups without stopping or pushups in 2 minutes.

Cool Down
To avoid getting sore, you can foam roll before and after working out as well as hitting up the bike and going slow for 5 minutes to help loosen up and release the lactic acid that causes you to be sore. You can also foam roll after you are already sore but I will warn you now that it hurts to the point of tears sometimes if you are doing it right so I would be very intent on rolling before it hurts!

I hope this helps you guys get ready for the summer!!
